Lebanon continued to lead the general ranking of the three-day Small Nations Skiing Championship in the in-depth race for men, women, and juniors, reaping 4 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze medals.
Organized by the Lebanese Snow Ski Federation in the Cedars, the Championship is held under the auspices of Army Chief General Joseph Aoun, and under the supervision of the International Federation.
The representative of the International Federation Özkan Kyumku (Turkish nationality) has decided to hold the 5 km and 10 km races on the second day (Saturday), while the Sprint races (1.2 km) will take place on the last day (Sunday) due to the quality of the snow and the expected rise in temperatures tomorrow.
The Championship’s second-day races, in which nine countries participated, namely Serbia, Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Mexico, Portugal, Trinidad-Tobago, and Lebanon, were attended by the President of the Lebanese Ski Federation Freddy Keyrouz, and all members of the Federation and heads of clubs, during which intense competition was witnessed between skiers.
The Championship is held at the “Bcharre Municipal Circuit” (about 3.5 km long) with the participation of 80 skiers and snowboarders, in light of strict measures against the Corona epidemic adopted by the Lebanese Federation.
