Snow sports season opens in Akkar forests

The Environment Council in Kobayat opened the year’s season for snow sports in the forests of Akkar, as part of the annual activities it organizes, and in the various seasons to encourage eco-tourism in the governorate, with a walk on snow by racquet or snowshoeing to the Karm Shabat forest in the heights of Qobayat, with the participation of a few Environmental activists, who each brought their car to the starting site, in compliance with measures to prevent Corona while respecting safe distances.

The president of the council, Dr. Antoine Daher, who participated in the trip, said: “This sport allows freedom of movement in the snow-covered mountains, and the discovery of all the folds and subtleties of the forest. The strong slopes of some of its slopes. “
He pointed out that “the paths varied between cedar trees with lush twigs, and the cliffs of silhouette and Zab, where the total harmony between snow white and green trees and the warmth of the encounter between those who were separated by the epidemic.”

Daher pointed out, “Nature comes as a complement to measures to prevent Covid-19, as it strengthens immunity, stimulates the heart, arteries, and respiratory system and relieves the troubled psyche in these difficult days.”

The path continued for nearly seven hours, through picturesque nature and a climate closer to spring, as the storm subsided.
