At the Medyar project in Deir al-Debbiah, Lebanese rally icon Roger Feghali once again proved why he is the reference point in local motorsport, winning the third Hill Climb Race at the wheel of his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6.
A Commanding Win on a Demanding Course
Hill climb racing is simple on paper—just a car, a driver, and a timed run up a twisting piece of tarmac. In reality, it is one of the purest tests of commitment and car control. At Medyar, the challenge was amplified by changing grip levels, blind crests, and unforgiving barriers.
Feghali’s experience on such terrain showed from the first official run. While several contenders flirted with the limits and made time-sapping mistakes, he stitched together clean, attacking passes that balanced aggression with precision. By the end of the day, his combined times across his best two runs left no doubt who owned the hill.
Behind him, Jordanian driver Amir Al-Najjar in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8 pushed hard but finished around nine seconds adrift. Fellow Evo 8 driver Jawad Salim claimed third, completing a podium dominated by turbocharged, all-wheel-drive machinery.
Inside the Third Round of the Hill Climb Championship
The Medyar event formed the third round of the 2025 Lebanese Hill Climb Championship, a series that has grown into a key pillar of the country’s motorsport calendar. With 32 cars entered across multiple categories, the race offered a full day of action for fans and a critical opportunity for drivers to bank championship points.
Winners in each class were determined by a familiar format: the best two times out of three official timed runs. This structure rewards consistency as much as raw speed. A single mistake can erase an otherwise strong day, which is why Feghali’s ability to produce repeatable, near-perfect climbs is so valuable.
At the finish, trophies were handed out across all categories, recognising not only the overall leaders but also the class specialists who fought their own battles further down the order.
Feghali and the Hill Climb Legacy
While Feghali is best known internationally for his rally exploits and record number of Rally of Lebanon victories, his relationship with hill climb racing runs deep. Over the years, he has set benchmarks on multiple Lebanese climbs, including Medyar, and has been central to raising the level of competition in the discipline.
Each new win in events like Medyar is more than just another trophy; it reinforces his status as a driver who can adapt to different formats—rallies, sprints, hill climbs—while maintaining an extraordinary standard. For younger Lebanese drivers, he remains both an inspiration and a target.
A Championship Far from Decided
With the Medyar round now in the books, the 2025 Lebanese Hill Climb Championship moves into its decisive phase. Feghali’s latest win strengthens his position at the top of the standings, but the margins behind him—and the growing depth of the field—mean nothing is guaranteed.
What is certain is that as long as events like Medyar continue to attract strong entries and enthusiastic fans, hill climb racing will remain one of Lebanon’s most vibrant motorsport arenas. And for now, Roger Feghali still sits on the throne at the top of the hill.
