An 11-year-old from Adma turns a regional stage into his personal showcase.
Standing Out in a Regional Field
Lebanese child gymnast Matteo El Beyrouthi, aged 11, delivered a standout performance at the 2024 International Gymnastics Championship organized by the UAE Gymnastics Federation in cooperation with Star Gymnastics Academy. The event brought together athletes from the UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Jordan, and Lebanon, creating a competitive field of young talents from across the region.
Two Golds, Two Bronzes in Six Events
Competing at Level Four for his age group, El Beyrouthi—representing Buddha Club in Adma—captured four medals across six apparatus. He won gold on the parallel bars and gold on the rings, then added bronze on the floor exercise and bronze on the pommel horse. His consistency across events earned him second place overall in his category based on total points.
Already a Three-Time National Champion
This is the second consecutive year that Matteo takes part in the UAE tournament, building on his status as Lebanon’s national gymnastics champion for the past three years. His rapid rise offers a rare feel-good story for Lebanese sport, showing that even at a young age, structured training and international exposure can produce results that stand out beyond the country’s borders.
