Kanaan inaugurates ‘Saint Anthony Medical Center’ in Douar: Our goal is to protect our community, relieve pressure on hospitals

MP Ibrahim Kanaan inaugurated Saturday the new “Saint Anthony Medical and Quarantine Center” in the area of Douar, as part of an initiative by the Municipality of Douar, in the presence of the Municipality Head Elie Sakr, and members of the municipal council.
The new center includes a number of beds with oxygen machines and medical equipment to receive patients who need medical care, oxygen or quarantine.

The Douar Mayor thanked MP Kanaan for his “initiative, support and sponsorship of this center at this difficult time, and for all that contributes to securing care for the people of the town and the northern Mentn region.”

In turn, Kanaan stressed the need to protect the community and relieve the pressure on hospitals. “The most important thing for us these days is to be able to create health centers in our towns in cooperation with the municipalities of the Metn region and the people, so that we can undergo initial treatments that save the patient the need to be admitted to hospital in many cases,” he said.

“The suffering is immense with the hospitals’ inability to absorb the high numbers of infections, a matter that breaks the heart…Also, delayed treatment leads to health complications and sometimes death. From here emerges the significance of centers, like the Douar Center, which includes doctors and nurses and the necessary medical equipment and oxygen machines, for treatment and quarantine,” the MP emphasized.

Kanaan pledged to share the burdens of the Metn region citizens and to help launch a campaign of PCR examinations, in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health, so as to have an idea of the virus situation in the town of Douar and to do what is necessary.

“Follow-up shall continue to create a path that will contribute significantly to protecting our towns and people,” Kanaan underscored.
