Hassan from Deir al-Ahmar stresses on exerting devoted efforts based on national grounds: Our work is not hampered by any considerations

Caretaker Minister of Public Health, Hamad Hassan, on Sunday, inaugurated a department for Corona patients at “Al-Mahabba Hospital” in the town of Deir Al-Ahmar, in the presence of Deputy Antoine Habshi; Pastor of the Maronite Diocese of Baalbek and Deir Al-Ahmar, Bishop Hanna Rahmeh; Head of the Union of Municipalities of Deir Al-Ahmar Region, Jean Fakhry; and several other prominent figures from the region.

In his word at the opening, Hassan praised the fruitful efforts that led to the inauguration of the new Corona section, stressing that the Ministry of Public Health cannot but respond to these initiatives and strive to act at the same level of responsibility. He emphasized on working devotedly for the sake of ensuring citizens’ health needs based on national grounds and kindness, exerting efforts that are hindered by no considerations.

“Today’s opening of the Corona section at Al Mahabba Hospital is practically the launch of a hospital in the Deir Al-Ahmar, Sliifa, Bashwat, and Al-Yamouna areas, and the rest of this region that is in dire need of medical and health care, and thus the enlightened efforts that have been exerted have made it possible to turn the epidemiological challenge into an opportunity,” Hassan corroborated.

He promised to approve the hospital within the financial ceilings of the Health Ministry, and to speed up work to complete all licenses and necessary requirements to finalize the legal aspects pertaining to the hospital’s standing.

The Caretaker Health Minister stated that municipal unions, municipalities, as well as spiritual, political, and social figures are undertaking responsible initiatives, with an end goal to secure home care services that contribute to relieving pressure on hospitals, thus reducing the number of those who need to enter hospital intensive care rooms, which falls within the strategy of the Ministry of Public Health at this difficult stage in facing the epidemic.

In turn, MP Habshi thanked the Health Minister for his support in inaugurating the new Corona section. “Our people in this region have been dreaming for decades of having a hospital, and today this dream has turned into a tangible reality, unfortunately under very difficult circumstances for our people,” he said.

Habshi added that the most important step is the legal framework for the hospital, which will be completed within days once the laboratory and radiology departments are ready, and once the entire hospital dossier is prepared, at which time Al-Mahabba Hospital will be listed under the Ministry of Health’s rooftop for 2021.
