On January 28, 2025, at the Résidence des Pins in Beirut, the French Ambassador to Lebanon, His Excellency Hervé Magro, and his wife honored Middle East Airlines – Air Liban for its vital role in maintaining Lebanon’s air connectivity during the September–November 2024 war.
In his speech, Ambassador Magro thanked the Lebanese Minister of Transport, MEA Chairman Mohammad El-Hout, and all MEA crews for their courage and dedication in keeping flights operating despite dangerous conditions, including incidents near Beirut airport. He highlighted MEA’s key partnership with Air France as an essential link between Lebanon and France and expressed hope for more flights and stronger cooperation between the two carriers.
The Ambassador also praised MEA’s support in transporting firefighters involved in rescue operations after the Beirut port explosion and enabling their participation in the Paris Olympic Games. At the end of the ceremony, he presented Mr. El-Hout with an honorary trophy on behalf of the French Embassy, expressing gratitude to all MEA staff for their brave efforts in challenging times.
