A determined under-55 kg campaign adds another international medal to Lebanon’s growing taekwondo résumé.
Silver in a Tough Field
Lebanese taekwondo fighter Anthony Naufal claimed silver in the under-55 kg category at the Turkish Open Taekwondo Championship, adding a second silver medal for Lebanon at the event. Competing under the guidance of coach Farzad Abdullah, he battled through six matches in the Kyorugi (sparring) discipline to reach the final.
Building a Multi-Medal Presence
Naufal’s podium follows another silver won by 13-year-old Jane Abboud earlier in the tournament, giving Lebanon a multi-medal presence and highlighting the depth of its youth and senior programmes. The results confirm taekwondo as one of the country’s most reliable medal-producing sports.
Sign of a Sport on the Rise
Supported by an active federation and committed clubs, Lebanese taekwondo athletes are increasingly visible at international events. Naufal’s silver in Turkey offers young practitioners across Lebanon a clear example of what is possible with structured training and competitive experience.
