Mortada and Kejian lay cornerstone for new Conservatoire building in Dbayeh funded by Chinese government

Caretaker Minister of Culture, Abbas Mortada, and Chinese Ambassador Wang Kejian, launched the construction and equipping of the new building of the Higher National Institute of Music in Lebanon – Conservatoire, located in Metn’s Dbayeh region, financed by the Chinese government.

Mortada thanked China’s “permanent support for Lebanon,” appreciating “its efforts to establish a music institute not only for Lebanon, but for every artist in the world.”

For his part, Kejian affirmed his country’s “great keenness to cooperate in order to hear the melodies of Chinese-Lebanese friendship rising from the new National Higher Institute of Music located on the eastern side of the Mediterranean as soon as possible to announce a new chapter of Lebanese-Chinese relations.”

“It is an exemplary project within the Belt Road framework, to strengthen the two peoples’ relations,” he asserted.

“Despite Coronavirus restrictions, the Chinese executing company is completing the preparations for the start of work, preparing the site, and delivering devices and supplies within the shortest possible period, with the support of the Lebanese side,” the ambassador said.
