Spanish contingent concludes the third phase of its sessions on Coronavirus prevention

The UNIFIL Spanish contingent completed the third phase of its training course organized by GTLP Catalonia on sterilization to prevent Coronavirus, in cooperation with the Civil Defense centers in the UNIFIL area of operations, held at the Civil Defense Center in al-Khiyam.

The course leader, First Lieutenant Sanchez Lyon, helped the battalion staff to verify that the trainees who participated in the first and second stages with the volunteers of the Civil Defense centers in the villages of Marjayoun, Qlayaa, and Khiyam, transferred to the rest of the center members their acquired knowledge while giving them some theoretical sessions so that they would later be able to implement sterilization practices in the open air and indoors, and take advantage of the facilities provided by the Municipality of Khiyam to implement the aforementioned practices.

At the course’s third-phase conclusion, GTLP President Lt. Col. Francisco Gonzalez and Khiyam Mayor Adnan Alayyan donated to the center preventive materials against Coronavirus.

Following a brief word by Alayyan, in which he hailed the Spanish contingent’s relentless work and support to curb the spread of the Coronavirus, the battalion commander signed the completion certificates and addressed a word to the center’s volunteers in which he praised their efforts in serving their community and contributing to citizens’ wellbeing.
