Al Riyadi Beirut, Asian Champions, Set Sights on World Clubs Basketball Championship 2024

The Beirut giants continue their remarkable season by booking a place among the world’s elite club teams.

From WASL Glory to Continental Crown

Al Riyadi’s qualification for the World Clubs Basketball Championship caps a season that already included domestic dominance and a FIBA West Asia Super League (WASL) title. In Dubai, the club translated that momentum into continental success, defeating UAE’s Shabab Al Ahli 122–96 in the Asian club final and confirming their status as the region’s benchmark team.

Arakji and Company Lead the Charge

Guard Wael Arakji, voted the most valuable player in previous WASL and national campaigns, once again led the scoring with 31 points in the Asian final. Surrounded by a deep supporting cast of local standouts and experienced foreign players, Arakji has helped turn Riyadi into an offensive juggernaut that regularly climbs past the 100-point mark in high-stakes games.

Carrying Lebanon to the World Stage

With the Asian title secured, Riyadi’s participation at the World Clubs Basketball Championship will take Lebanese basketball into another global window. Facing champions from other continents, the club will test its structures, depth, and style against a new level of competition—while offering Lebanese fans one more reason to follow their team beyond national borders.

Whatever the final results, the journey itself is a powerful statement about how far a Lebanese club can reach when talent and long-term planning intersect.
