Caretaker Minister of Health, Hamad Hassan, on Friday welcomed World Bank’s Regional Director of the Mashreq Department, Saroj Kumar Jha, the Regional Director of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Houssam Al-Sherkawi, and Lebanon’s office Director, Cristhian Cortez Cardoza.
The meeting reportedly highlighted the paramount importance of having the IFRC independently observe the vaccination process against Covid-19, provided that the WB will finance this mission, apart from the loan allocated for Lebanon.
The IFRC will coordinate with the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and the Ministry of Health, to ensure fair and transparent distribution of vaccines across Lebanon.
